THE ALLIGATOR
Artalysis was approached by a customer with a request to build a 12 foot alligator that looked and felt like a bronze sculpture for a new visitor center at Armand Bayou Nature Center in Pasadena, Texas. Using a 7” long plastic toy alligator, Artalysis scanned, designed, modified, scaled, printed, processed, shipped, and assembled the full 12 foot alligator on-site. Afterwards, Artalysis along the customer applied their bronzing process to the alligator to resemble a bronze sculpture.

THE PROCESS
Step 1: SCANNING
Received 7” alligator model from customer. Using a 3D scanner, Artalysis was able to capture the all details and create solid 3D data that was ready for design.

Step 2: Design
Artalysis used solid 3D data from the scanning process to make minor customer-requested modifications to the alligator before scaling the alligator to 12 feet.
Step 3: Prints
Artalysis printed the alligator in 7 pieces to allow for easier processing and assembly. Each piece retained the resolution and detail from the original 7” alligator model.

Step 4: Processing (cleaning prints)
The alligator underwent the processing phase at Artalysis.
Step 5: Disassembled
After processing, each piece was laid out and went through quality inspections.

Step 6: ASSEMBLED AT ARTALYSIS
The alligator was assembled at Artalysis for further quality inspections and fit tests. Following this, Artalysis disassembled, packaged and shipped the alligator pieces to the customer.
Step 7: Final (Bronze)
The customer with the help of Artalysis assembled the alligator on site and finished the bronzing process.
